Kitty card game online
Kitty is a Nepali card game, played most during Dashain and Tihar. Each player gets nine cards and arranges them into three hands of three. The three hands are shown one at a time against everyone else's, and whoever wins the most of the three shows takes the pot.

How to play Kitty
- Everyone puts the boot (the ante) into the pot, then nine cards are dealt to each player.
- Arrange your nine cards into three hands of three: your best hand first, then your second best, then the last.
- The first hands are shown together and the best one wins that show. Then the second hands, then the third.
- The player who wins the most shows takes the whole pot.
- If nobody wins outright, it's a Kitty: the pot carries over to the next deal.
Kitty hand rankings, best to worst
- Trial: three cards of the same rank (three Aces is the best hand in the game).
- Pure run: three cards in sequence, all the same suit (like 7, 8, 9 of hearts).
- Run: three cards in sequence of mixed suits.
- Colour: three cards of the same suit, not in sequence.
- Pair: two cards of the same rank.
- High card: none of the above; the highest card decides.
Tips to win at Kitty
- Don't put everything in the first hand. Winning two of three shows takes the pot, so a strong second hand often matters more.
- Splitting a pair can turn two weak hands into a run and a colour.
- Sort by suit to spot colours and pure runs, then by rank to spot trials and pairs.
Kitty: common questions
How many cards are dealt in Kitty?
Nine cards each, from one 52-card deck, for 2 to 5 players.
What beats a trial in Kitty?
Only a higher trial. Three Aces is the best possible hand.
What happens when there is a tie in Kitty?
If no player wins the most shows, the round is a Kitty and the whole pot carries over to the next deal.
Is Kitty the same as Teen Patti?
No. Both use three-card rankings, but in Teen Patti you bet on one hand of three, while in Kitty you build three hands from nine cards and play them in turn.
