A teacher and a broken promise
Mitch Albom studied sociology at Brandeis University under Morrie Schwartz, a warm and playful professor. At graduation Mitch promised to keep in touch, but he did not. Over the next sixteen years he became a busy, successful sports journalist in Detroit, chasing work and money.
Then he saw Morrie on a television news programme. His old teacher had ALS, a disease that slowly paralyses the body. Mitch went to visit him, and the visit turned into a series of Tuesday meetings, a final class with no books, on the meaning of life.
