Not who you’d expect
Stanley and Danko spent years surveying and interviewing wealthy Americans, and found that most millionaires look nothing like the popular image. Many run businesses in ordinary trades, live in modest homes in ordinary neighbourhoods, and drive cars that are years old.
Meanwhile, many people with high incomes, big houses and luxury cars have surprisingly little wealth. The authors borrow a Texan phrase for them, big hat, no cattle: plenty of show, little substance.
