A drawing of a sheep

As a boy, the narrator drew a snake that had swallowed an elephant, but every grown-up thought it was a hat. Discouraged, he gave up art and became a pilot.

Years later his plane breaks down in the Sahara Desert, far from anyone. At dawn a little golden-haired boy appears and asks him to draw a sheep. After several failed attempts, the pilot draws a box and says the sheep is inside. The boy is delighted.
