An unexpected party

Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who loves his cosy home at Bag End and dislikes adventures. One day the wizard Gandalf arrives, followed by thirteen dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield.

The dwarves plan to reclaim their ancestral home under the Lonely Mountain and its treasure, stolen long ago by the dragon Smaug. Gandalf has chosen Bilbo to be their burglar, and to his own surprise, Bilbo goes with them.
