West Egg

In the summer of 1922, Nick Carraway moves to West Egg, on Long Island near New York, to work in finance. Across the bay in wealthier East Egg live his cousin Daisy and her rich, arrogant husband, Tom Buchanan.

Nick’s neighbour is Jay Gatsby, who lives in a huge mansion and throws enormous parties that hundreds attend, though few have ever met him. Nick sees him alone at night, reaching towards a green light across the water.
