A poem every Nepali knows
Muna Madan is a long poem by Laxmi Prasad Devkota, often called Nepal’s great poet. He wrote it in the jhyaure folk rhythm, the style of village songs, so ordinary people could sing and remember it. It remains one of the best-selling books in Nepali.
The story follows Madan, a young man from Kathmandu, and his devoted wife Muna. It is a story about love, separation, and what truly makes a person great.
