A boy called Pi

Piscine Molitor Patel grows up in Pondicherry, India, where his father runs a zoo. Teased about his name, he renames himself Pi, after the number.

Curious about God, Pi practises Hinduism, Christianity and Islam all at once, to the confusion of the priest, the imam and the pandit who each think he belongs to them. From the zoo he also learns a serious lesson: wild animals are dangerous, and must be respected.
