Chapter 1 of 5 · Hyperfocus

Your attention space

Bailey calls the amount of information you can hold in mind at one moment your attention space. It is small, and how you fill it determines how productive and creative you can be.

Much of the time we run on autopilot, letting habits and distractions decide where our attention goes. Bailey argues that simply noticing what is occupying your attention is the first step to managing it better. He suggests checking in regularly, for example with an hourly reminder, to ask what is occupying your mind.
